Did you know?

You're not likely to find khao pad American in American Thai restaurants. Popular in Thailand, it features rice which is fried with ketchup or tomato sauce and might be mixed with raisins and peas. It is served with some combination of fried chicken, bacon, hot dogs, ham, and croutons. Apparently, it was created during the Vietnam War when many Americans were stationed in Thailand. The dish went on to become Thai comfort food.

Thai is spoken by around 60 million people worldwide. The vast majority of Thai speakers reside in Thailand and the countries that border it, such as Laos and Burma. Thai television programs are received and understood in neighboring Laos, where the national language is closely related to Thai.

Your best choice to learn Thai online is the Beverly Hills Lingual Institute. Our faculty and courses are proven, effective, and extremely popular with residents of the Los Angeles area.

The best part about living in Los Angeles is...

I've lived in different areas of Los Angeles, like Westwood, North Hollywood, Whittier and others for many years. No matter where I have lived, I've always found interesting things in the area around me, especially ethnic foods. There are so many things that have surprised me. I like to explore new cuisine. That is the best aspect of life in Los Angeles.

Recommend a place to visit where Thai is the native language, and tell us why you like it.

To experience the Thai culture and language, one can go to Hollywood area, on Hollywood Blvd. between Western Ave. and Normandie Ave. It is called Thai Town. There are many Thai business establishments such as Thai restaurants, Thai markets, book stores, massage parlors and much more. Here you will find a variety of authentic Thai foods and desserts. So check it out.

What Thai film or musical artist do you recommend students watch or listen to?

There are a few Thai movies that I like and would like to recommend to anyone who want to watch Thai movie. The names are 'Beautiful Boxer' and 'Ong Bark.' These are a little old movie but they are fun to watch. The 'Beautiful Boxer' is based on a true story of a Thai boxer who wanted to become a women. The 'Ong Bark' is an action movie with an interesting story. See them for yourself.

What most surprises your students about Thai?

Many English-speaking people think that Thai language would be very difficult to learn. However, many of my students find it not as difficult as they thought. The Thai grammar is simpler than that of English and other languages.

What one thing would you like your students to know about you?

I enjoy many outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, camping and more. I would like to enjoy these activities with my students as well. So I'd be very happy if any of my students would like to join me.

Why Learn Thai?

Learn [LANGUAGE] in Los Angeles

Thailand is an exciting, beautiful, exotic country, with scenery ranging from breathtaking mountains and rain forests, to gorgeous sandy beaches.

If you can read Thai, you'll recognize some Lao and Cambodian letters, and you'll find that knowledge of the Thai script gives you a major advantage when learning to read Lao and Cambodian.

Mastering a new language can change your life.

Spending time studying an unfamiliar alphabet, practicing different sounds, and generally striving to master a foreign language like Thai has been proven to have a positive effect on the learner's mind. Studies show that adults learning new languages stimualte similar brain parts as children learning you speak. You'll find it easier to learn and remember new things, and you'll likely enjoy the ability to hold more things in short-term memory.

Bilingual individuals often demonstrate increased open-mindedness, creativity, and approachability compared to those who speak only one language. Learning a new language extends beyond acquiring linguistic skills; it cultivates new sensibilities and a broadened perspective on the world. Consequently, multilingualism promotes a deeper understanding of diverse cultures and customs, fostering greater acceptance of new ideas.

More About Thai

Thai is a tonal language, with five tones: mid, low, high, falling, and rising. The learner needs to get used to recognizing the pitch of a word. For some, hearing and producing different tones comes easily; for others, it takes more time and practice.

Learning a new script always presents a challenge, but most find the Thai script easier to grasp than they might have been led to expect.

Word order in Thai is similar to English. Basic grammar is easier than in European languages, because there are no verb or noun endings.
