The best part about living in Los Angeles is...

The diversity of cultures and languages that you can find, and the handy opportunities to practice the language you are learning.

Recommend a place to visit where Spanish is the native language, and tell us why you like it.

I would recommend the whole of Latin America and South America. Every country has its own particular beauty and interesting slight variations of this rich language.

What Spanish film or musical artist do you recommend students watch or listen to?

Mark Anthony. He has a great number of songs that people can enjoy and start singing in Spanish. Students might also choose a TV series in Netflix. I personally enjoyed La Casa de las Flores.

What most surprises your students about Spanish?

My students like learning the similarities and differences between English and Spanish—not only in vocabulary and grammar, but also in ways of expressing emotion.

What one thing would you like your students to know about you?

That I love speaking Spanish—but most of all, that I love teaching it! That every class is a new opportunity to exchange ideas and bring their own personality to share with the rest of us.

The best part about living in Los Angeles is...

The diversity of its people and the many languages we hear everywhere in LA.

Recommend a place to visit where Spanish is the native language, and tell us why you like it.

I highly recommend San Fernando City in the San Fernando Valley. Also, Plaza Olvera or 'La Placita' in Downtown (Olvera Street). One can find the very first house, church and plaza founded in Los Angeles. It has a beautiful open-air market, which offers a variety of goods from different Hispanic cultures.

What Spanish film or musical artist do you recommend students watch or listen to?

a) Serious Spanish learners should watch 'Destinos,' which is a free Spanish course in a telenovela-type format. A video course developed by the University of Illinois. b) Also, as a general practice, I'd suggest any Netflix series in Spanish. 'La Casa de las Flores' is a good one to immerse oneself in the culture.

What most surprises your students about Spanish?

They are always mesmerized by the natural rhythm of the spoken Spanish language at its natural speed.

What one thing would you like your students to know about you?

One thing about my philosophy of education: My slogan 'Soy una persona de éxito,' means that I do believe every person is capable of learning Spanish and any other language. This motto I use it at the beginning of every class and I ask everyone to repeat it just prior to the beginning of every lesson.

San Miguel de Allende in Mexico is a truly magical town, baroque colonial architecture, thriving arts scene and cultural gatherings, and needless to say, great culinary scene.

Singer Natalia Lafourcade. The film Roma (named after a Mexico City neighborhood) by Alfonso Cuaron. The TV series La Casa de Las Flores.

How beautiful it is when using it to express feelings and emotions, and how fun it can become in the learning process.

The best part about living in Los Angeles is...

Meeting so many different people from so many different places under consistently beautiful skies.

Recommend a place to visit where Spanish is the native language, and tell us why you like it.

Colombia, and not just because I was born there, but because the Spanish spoken there is very standard and clear, making it much easier for beginners to understand, especially in Bogota. Colombia is also very beautiful!

What Spanish film or musical artist do you recommend students watch or listen to?

'Maria Full of Grace.'

What most surprises your students about Spanish?

I would have to say that students are always commenting on how expressive Spanish is.

What one thing would you like your students to know about you?

I love teaching and always strive to present material in the simplest way possible.

Private Spanish Classes

We offer semi-private Spanish classes or private Spanish lessons for any level of Spanish.

Some students prefer private lessons instead of a scheduled class, or occasionally take private classes to augment their existing, scheduled group course.

Private classes are more flexible than Group classes. They are tailored to specific learning and scheduling needs. They can be useful if a student's language knowledge is uneven, if a more intensified study program is needed, or if privacy is a concern.

With our large staff of native speakers, we can schedule private lessons in most languages.

Private lessons are available in packages of:

  • 4 classes (80-minutes each)

  • 8 classes (80-minutes each)

  • 12 classes (80-minutes each)

Or, if you are enrolled in a group class, your private lesson can be scheduled individually.

Please write us or call (323) 651-5000 to schedule your private class.

Why Learn Spanish?

Learn [LANGUAGE] in Los Angeles

As the second most popular language in the U.S., Spanish can open doors both socially and professionally.

Forbes lists Spanish as one of the three most universally useful languages, calling it an extremely practical choice if your career is in sales, marketing, or health care. The 2010 Census found that Latinos make up 16 percent of the U.S. population, creating a consumer segment that has companies desperate to hire and retain bilingual employees.

If you are considering learning or brushing up on your Spanish language skills, you have come to the right place. The Beverly Hills Lingual Institute has been teaching Spanish classes for more than twenty years, earning an esteemed reputation in Los Angeles.

Mastering a new language can change your life.

Spending time studying an unfamiliar alphabet, practicing different sounds, and generally striving to master a foreign language like Spanish has been proven to have a positive effect on the learner's mind. Studies show that adults learning new languages stimualte similar brain parts as children learning you speak. You'll find it easier to learn and remember new things, and you'll likely enjoy the ability to hold more things in short-term memory.

Bilingual individuals often demonstrate increased open-mindedness, creativity, and approachability compared to those who speak only one language. Learning a new language extends beyond acquiring linguistic skills; it cultivates new sensibilities and a broadened perspective on the world. Consequently, multilingualism promotes a deeper understanding of diverse cultures and customs, fostering greater acceptance of new ideas.

The Beverly Hills Lingual Institute invites you to learn Spanish at our award-winning school, where we are proud to offer Spanish and more than 35 other languages.

Our language school hires and retains exceptional Spanish teachers, eager to share their knowledge and love for their native land and the Spanish language.

Our attractive location, on-site parking and schedule all combine to facilitate your Spanish courses.
